Facilities Manager for Glastonbury Southern Gage, Inc.

Location - Marlborough, CT

Glastonbury Southern Gage, Inc. is seeking a Facilities Manager to join our team! Glastonbury Southern Gage has been a leader in precision gaging and manufacturing excellence for decades. This is an excellent opportunity for a hands-on professional to oversee plant facilities, maintenance programs, inventory support, and purchasing functions in a manufacturing environment. This position will be located at our Colchester, CT manufacturing facility and will report directly to the President and CEO.

Essential Duties and Responsibilities of the position to include, but not limited to:

  • Oversees the daily operation, maintenance, and overall condition of the plant building, grounds, and facilities infrastructure
  • Develops and manages preventive maintenance programs for building systems, support equipment, and manufacturing machinery
  • Coordinates machine maintenance schedules to ensure equipment reliability, uptime, and safe operating condition
  • Manages building systems including HVAC, electrical, lighting, plumbing, compressed air, fire protection, and security systems
  • Oversees outside contractors and vendors for repairs, inspections, maintenance services, and facility improvement projects
  • Helps ensure compliance with safety, environmental, and regulatory requirements related to facilities and maintenance operations
  • Oversees inventory levels for maintenance supplies, spare parts, operating supplies, and other indirect materials
  • Purchases items that support manufacturing operations, excluding raw materials and direct production materials
  • Obtains quotes, evaluates vendors, places purchase orders, and works to control costs while maintaining quality and service
  • Maintains records for maintenance history, vendor services, inventory usage, and purchasing activity
  • Assists with budgeting, capital improvements, equipment moves, and plant improvement initiatives
  • Supports continuous improvement and Lean Manufacturing efforts throughout the facility
  • Performs other duties throughout the plant as assigned

Qualifications:

  • 5+ years of experience in facilities management, plant operations, maintenance supervision, or a related role in a manufacturing environment preferred
  • Strong knowledge of industrial building systems, maintenance practices, and plant facility operations
  • Experience with preventive maintenance systems, inventory oversight, and indirect purchasing
  • Ability to manage multiple priorities across facilities, maintenance, inventory, and vendor coordination
  • Familiarity with OSHA requirements, workplace safety practices, and general regulatory compliance
  • Ability to read technical documents, equipment manuals, and basic blueprints
  • Strong organizational, communication, and problem-solving skills
  • Proficiency with Microsoft Office and ERP, purchasing, or maintenance tracking systems preferred

Education Required:

  • High school or vocational graduate required
  • Associate’s or Bachelor’s degree in Facilities Management, Industrial Maintenance, Engineering Technology, Business, or related field preferred

Hours:

First Shift, Monday – Thursday, with additional hours or Friday coverage as needed to support facility and operational requirements.

I.T. Technician for Glastonbury Southern Gage-TN Division


About the company: Glastonbury Southern Gage (GSG) is a leading manufacturer of threaded products and gages. GSG makes fixed-limit cylindrical gages, special gaging and offers precision grinding and lapping services. The Gage products are widely used in the aerospace, oil, gas, medical, and automotive industries.


Essential duties and responsibilities of the GSG-TN position to include, but not limited to:

  • Overall responsibility for maintaining the Division’s computer systems including: hardware, internet connections, ERP Software, Microsoft Suite of Products and other systems as needed in support of operation.
  • Installing configuring & maintaining computer hardware including: desktops, laptops, printers, phones, internal network, battery backups. Assist as needed with server, switches, and other hardware,
  • Maintaining internal network: wired and wireless.
  • Maintain internet connection, speed, and email.
  • Maintain established cybersecurity protocols.
  • Coordinate support needed from outside vendors.
  • Specify and requisition equipment needed to support Division.
  • Work with Corporate I.T. in maintaining servers and network connection to Corporate and other Division(s).
  • Maintain written procedures as needed.
  • Monitoring effective backup of computer system.
  • Implementation and maintenance of a CRM system which includes working with outside vendor(s) to ensure a successful      launch.
  • Position may require additional remote work above and beyond normal working hours as needed to support operations.
  • Responsible for maintaining and ensuring company display boards are operational
  • Experience with AI applications a plus but not required

Essential Safety Knowledge:

  • Understand all safety requirements as they relate to their department are followed.

Our ideal candidate will possess:

  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills.
  • Excellent computer skills including Microsoft Suite of Products (Word, Excel, Outlook, Power Point), and ERP system. Knowledge of Visual ERP. Ability to teach others how to use the products.
  • Write reports from Sequel Database, ERP System utilizing Crystal Reports Excel or other formats.
  • Source necessary equipment and software for computer system.
  • Work effectively with Corporate I.T. and outside vendors.
  • Ability to manage multiple tasks and deadlines.
  • Troubleshoot and fix I.T. issues.
  • Strong time management skills and ability to complete tasks on timely basis.
  • Ability to work with limited supervision.
  • Write effective procedures and instructions, labeling of hardware, train individuals on use of software.


Education Required:

  • College Degree or equivalent work experience.
  • 3 – 5 yrs. relevant work experience.
  • Working knowledge of Microsoft Suite of Products including: Office 365, Windows 365 email.
  • Familiarity with ERP system

Glastonbury Southern Gage, a division of Alpha Q, Inc. is seeking a WEDM specialist to join our team! Glastonbury Southern Gage is the world leader in precision gaging since 1964. This is a rare opportunity to work and learn from some of the most talented people in the industry, working to extremely tight tolerances. This position will be located at our Colchester, CT manufacturing facility.

Essential Duties and Responsibilities of the position to include, but not limited to:
• • Performs complex and intricate internal diameter and or external diameter grinding operations from blueprints 
• Responsible for the dimensionality of work
• Performs polishing, breaking of edges, and radius grinding and checking
• May train new operators and acts as a department resource in problem solving and/or troubleshooting for less experienced operators
• Work with lab technicians to ensure optimal material for lapping
• Participates in Lean Manufacturing events throughout the manufacturing area
• Performs other duties throughout the shop as assigned
Qualifications:
•• 2 years of CNC Grinding experience preferred but will train the right individual with previous CNC milling or turning experience
• 5 years machining mandatory; Tool, Die and or Gage experience a plus 
• Working knowledge of shop mathematics and machining technology, precision measuring procedures, setup techniques, tooling applications
• Must be capable of using basic inspection equipment i.e. micrometers, calipers, plug gages, etc. and a broad knowledge of mechanic principles
• Thorough familiarity and understanding of Process Sheets, blueprints, specifications, and procedures that are applicable to the job
• Experience with SuperTec or similar conversational control programming a plus
• Must be highly organized and able to work with varying, non-production workload 
Education Required:
• High school or vocational graduate

• Responsible for the dimensionality of work
