General Manager for Glastonbury Southern Gage-TN Division

About the company: Glastonbury Southern Gage (GSG) is a leading manufacturer of threaded products and gages. GSG makes fixed-limit cylindrical gages, special gaging and offers precision grinding and lapping services. The Gage products are widely used in the aerospace, oil, gas, medical, and automotive industries.


We are currently seeking a General Manager to manage all activities/functions for the GSG plant in TN including: manufacturing, engineering, customer service, quality, administrative functions and continuous improvement activity in all areas.

Essential duties and responsibilities of the GSG-TN position to include, but not limited to:
• Foster a continuous improvement culture in all functions and provide a positive work environment
• P & L responsibilities for the division including Annual Plan
• Participate in setting & communicating division objectives to staff
• Accountable for achieving GSG-TN division objective results
• Responsible for staff recruitment in all job functions
• Maintain positive labor relations with Union representing hourly workforce
• Provide guidance and leadership to all GSG-TN managers and associates
• Maintain ERP system
• Candidate works closely with the VP of Marketing and Sales for GSG and GSG-CT to ensure a consistent
       marketing and sales strategy for both divisions.   

Essential Quality Knowledge:
• Maintain industry certifications as required for the GSG products and/or customers.
• Must meet or exceed objectives for on-time delivery, quality and customer service.

Essential Safety Knowledge:
• Knowledge of all OSHA safety and environmental regulations
• Must meet all applicable federal and state safety and environmental requirements to ensure a safe working environment for all associates.

Our ideal candidate will possess:
• Strong knowledge of best practices in a manufacturing environment including lean continuous improvement
• 6-S, etc. Hands on ability to initiate, implement and maintain improvements.
• 10+ years in a manufacturing environment, with proven leadership/management capability.
• Excellent time management and communication skills
• Experience working with very tight tolerances (Gage catalog products and specials to customer blue print).
• Strong computer skills
• Ability to analyze current manufacturing technology data/trends applicable to the GSG business
• Demonstrated team building skills and strong leadership within a manufacturing environment.
• Proven ability to motivate, lead. and develop employees.
• Excellent interpersonal skills with the ability to communicate across all levels of the organization.

Education Required:
Bachelor's in Science Degree in Engineering, Business Operations, Management, or related field. Experience in a manufacturing environment with over ten years of management experience with proven results and increasing responsibility may be substituted for degree requirement.

Compensation: commensurate experience. We offer a very generous compensation package and our benefit package includes: incentive plan, health, dental. 401K plan, vacation. and life insurance. WEDM Specialist  for Glastonbury Southern Gage-CT Division

Glastonbury Southern Gage, a division of Alpha Q, Inc. is seeking a WEDM specialist to join our team! Glastonbury Southern Gage is the world leader in precision gaging since 1964. This is a rare opportunity to work and learn from some of the most talented people in the industry, working to extremely tight tolerances. This position will be located at our Colchester, CT manufacturing facility.

Essential Duties and Responsibilities of the position to include, but not limited to:
• Performs complex WEDM operations from blueprints/models with little supervision
• Responsible for the dimensionality of work
• Performs polishing and breaking of edges for finish work
• Program from supplied solid models utilizing Esprit Cam Software
• May train new operators and acts as a department resource in problem solving and/or troubleshooting for less experienced operators
• Work with WEDM Lead to ensure optimal material condition for grinding 
• Participates in Lean Manufacturing events throughout the manufacturing area
• Performs other duties throughout the shop as assigned
Qualifications:
• 2 years of WEDM experience preferred but will train the right individual 
• 5 years machining mandatory; Tool, Die and or Gage experience a plus 
• Working knowledge of shop mathematics and machining technology, precision measuring procedures, setup techniques, tooling applications
• Must be capable of using basic inspection equipment i.e. micrometers, calipers, plug gages, etc. and a broad knowledge of mechanic principles
• Thorough familiarity and understanding of Process Sheets, blueprints, specifications, and procedures that are applicable to the job
• Experience with GF and Excetek units a plus
• Must be highly organized and able to work with varying, non-production workload
• Willingness to cross train in different areas of the shop
Education Required:
• High school or vocational graduate

Hours: First Shift is 7:00AM - 5:00PM, Monday – Thursday with overtime available on Friday as needed

• • Performs complex and intricate internal diameter and or external diameter grinding operations from blueprints 
• Responsible for the dimensionality of work
• Performs polishing, breaking of edges, and radius grinding and checking
• May train new operators and acts as a department resource in problem solving and/or troubleshooting for less experienced operators
• Work with lab technicians to ensure optimal material for lapping
• Participates in Lean Manufacturing events throughout the manufacturing area
• Performs other duties throughout the shop as assigned
Qualifications:
•• 2 years of CNC Grinding experience preferred but will train the right individual with previous CNC milling or turning experience
• 5 years machining mandatory; Tool, Die and or Gage experience a plus
